Its a Long Story: My Life by Willie NelsonThe definitive autobiography of Willie Nelson
Unvarnished. Funny. Leaving no stone unturned.
. . . So say the publishers about this book Ive written.
What I say is that this is the story of my life, told as clear as a Texas sky and in the same rhythm that I lived it.
Its a story of restlessness and the purity of the moment and living right. Of my childhood in Abbott, Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, from Nashville to Hawaii and all the way back again. Of selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias while hosting radio shows and writing song after song, hoping to strike gold.
Its a story of true love, wild times, best friends, and barrooms, with a musical sound track ripping right through it.
My life gets lived on the road, at home, and on the road again, tried and true, and Ive written it all down from my heart to yours.

Willie is wrinkled, you might even say creviced. Bags beneath his eyes as big as baggies of pot. A generous nose, as big as Texas.
It may have even saved his life. Nelson nods and puts it away. This can be a problem. Willie Nelson is our music superstar of the month. That keeps it going.
Even casual fans know those songs by the Red Headed Stranger. Here are 20 obscure, but no less great, tracks that help shine a light on the full Nelson. Originally released on Nelson's very first LP, 's …And Then I Wrote , this tale of a love who leaves is drama to the hilt: She splits, the sun explodes and darkness envelopes the land. It's almost biblical in its apocalyptic vision of a world without love. Nelson revisited the song three years later on his Country Willie: His Own Songs album with a slightly different feel. But it's his original version, and a performance from that era on The Porter Wagoner Show , that best conveys the earth-shattering hopelessness that can follow a breakup.
