After graduating from the Greater Atlanta Christian School in , she began studying business at Harding University. Much of this decision was attributed to her early advisors, who urged her to choose the profession as it was considered a practical livelihood. From there, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee and worked as a customer service representative in an entry level position. She worked in the company for three years until she eventually ended up leading a team of 27 people. However, the birth of her first child and new employment opportunities for her husband brought them to the city of Greeley, Colorado. It was in Colorado where she received some advice that would significantly alter her life.
