While you may know the basic premise — it's about a virginal college student who falls for a billionaire with a knack for bondage and domination — you may not have read the books nor plan on seeing the movie. James' erotica novel is written from the perspective of college student Anastasia Steele. Before graduation, she interviews the mysterious and eligible billionaire bachelor Christian Grey for her school's paper.
Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam was originally cast as Christian Grey, but had to back out due to scheduling conflicts. The novel prompted rope sales to skyrocket at hardware stores across the country. The pubic hair that you see in the movie was added in during post-production.
