How well do you know your fantastic beasts?

For fans of JK Rowling's Wizarding World, the newest adjunct to the Harry Potter franchise has been refreshingly unknown up until release. Although the new spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is set before the previous films, we don't expect that Rowling's planned five films will dovetail directly into The Philosopher's Stone and aside from a couple of references to wizarding history, it's uncharted territory. The book version of Fantastic Beasts was published for Comic Relief in and purports to be an abridged, Muggle-worthy edition of Newt Scamander's in-universe work on magical creatures. On the other hand, the plot of the film is brand new, taking place during Newt's research into writing the book, when he inadvertently causes a wizarding crisis in New York after he arrives with a suitcase full of magical specimens. It's a Harry Potter film, plus that Doctor Who movie that director David Yates wanted to make a few years ago, combined with just about everything you'd want from a live-action Pokemon movie. But where fans of the Potter books could previously explain away plotholes or vagaries in the film adaptations to fans who haven't read them, there's no equivalent here, except for the script book which published simultaneously with the film's global release.

All rights reserved. Rowling included the voices of familiar characters like Dumbledore and Harry instead of just having the book written entirely by a new character—Newt Scamander? Does the fact that this story has no plot make it harder to read or less interesting? Why or why not? What do you think Mr. Scamander's adventures around the world were like? Why do you think he includes so little of his personal stories in his entries?

We expected to be introduced to new characters in J. This movie is only the second of five that will tell this part of Harry Potter history, but we want the many questions that emerged from The Crimes of Grindelwald to be answered sooner rather than later. Here are nine questions we have after watching The Crimes of Grindelwald that we hope are answered before the fifth and final Fantastic Beasts film. The Crimes of Grindelwald introduced us to the idea that a magical blood pact can be made between two people. The pact apparently was a promise that they would never fight each other, and the blood from it was held in a special vial.

The " Harry Potter " fandom is one of tireless re-reading and research. In the years since "Deathly Hallows," Rowling has already spent a good amount of time revealing new "Harry Potter" tidbits online and in interviews. Now, with the " Fantastic Beasts " franchise, she has even more storylines, plot points, and magical intricacies to explain. This question began tripping up fans before "Fantastic Beasts" was released, since Newt's boat trip was teased in the trailers. Rowling's answer : " Apparition becomes increasingly risky over long distances. As with most magic, much depends on the skill of the spell-caster: Apparition requires knowledge of the terrain to which one is moving, or the ability to visualise it clearly. Cross-continental Apparition would almost certainly result in severe injury or death.
