This tutorial demonstrates how to create a soap bubble photographic collage utilising Adobe Photoshop Elements versions 7, 8 & 9. (Newer Photoshop Elements versions are slightly different, however, with a little knowledge my tutorials can still be utilised). This is a step by step tutorial and is suitable for Intermediate to Advanced students. It includes many informative screen captures that speed up the learning process. This is part of a series of over 300 tutorials that I have written for Photoshop Elements. Each of my Photoshop Elements tutorials is step by step and packed with helpful screen captures - so you can follow my instructions every step of the way without ever getting lost.

Create collages, montages | Photoshop, Photoshop Elements

You can create a collage or montage in Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements in several ways, but the following method is the simplest. Following the steps below, you add each new image to the collage image as a separate layer. This process allows you to manipulate each image individually. When all of your images are assembled in the final image, you can resize or move the layers the added images. Specify image size based on the desired print size such as 8 inches x 10 inches at pixels per inch on a white background. Note: If your images differ in resolution or pixels per inch, they could display at an unexpected size in the collage image. You can use the steps below on transforming layers to resize the images appropriately.

You can pick an image to use as your main canvas, as shown in the figure, and then open a supporting image that you can select and then drag onto that main image. However, if you want, you can also start with just a blank document. Feel free to use whichever selection method suits your fancy, but remember that the finished collage will look only as good as its individual selections. The Quick Selection tool was used to select the girl, as shown. Then the Lasso tool was used to clean up the selection border.
